Entrepreneurs ought not be made to pay for their employees’ alimony debts

Punishing employers for employing people with alimony debts is the worst possible way to encourage settling those debts. Using such means to achieve otherwise noble goals is against the law. Moreover, it is also another case when the state is unable to fulfill its responsibilities and transfers them to entrepreneurs.

The Council of Employers of Poland issued a position on the draft prepared by the Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Policy. “While the intent itself is commendable, the solutions included in the draft are glaringly inappropriate. The idea of punishing employers for their employees’ alimony debts and forcing them to pay them back is utterly unacceptable and a violation of the principles of a democratic state governed by the rule of law” – one can read in the Council’s statement.
